Who We Are

Telefomin was one of the most remote government outposts in the Territory, located almost in the centre of continental New Guinea and just 66 kilometres from where the border between Papua and New Guinea met the border of Dutch New Guinea.

Telefomin is located North West of Sandaun Province and is about 35,920 km². It has four LLGs and has a population of around 500,000 people. The valley like other remote villages in the country has no access to road transportation, communication, no form of cash crop activities and generally lack of government services. The people live in extreme poverty and struggle to meet the ends need in a subsistence way of living.

Upon seeing the developmental constrains and lack of services in the district, ward villages and the community, NHL decided to come up with a framework or strategy plan that can become like a road map to chart the course for district developments.

Nurumi Holdings Limited (NHL) was formed as a result of it and will work closely with Telefomin District Administration, Sandaun Provincial Government and LLGs to effectively implement its development plan.
